"Climate messenger" trained by Al Gore

Katie is a student and staff member at The New School in New York City. She was one of 1000 "climate messengers" trained by Al Gore and The Climate Project to give his slide presentation on the climate crisis.

Like Katie, several of the presenters were not career environmentalists, but she feels that was an advantage. "I think the beauty of training people who aren't environmentalists is that we can relate to how a first-time audience sees the presentation. Hopefully, we can explain the concepts in a way that is easy to understand."

Katie has given the presentation to a wide variety of audiences, including to the staff of Cosmopolitan magazine. "The climate crisis effects everyone, so everyone should have the opportunity to participate in solving it." .
