Chef Melody, Author and Chef
Chef Melody will be doing Green Kitchen workshops with kids
on Friday and Saturday and 2 adult workshops on Saturday.
Melody McGinley Whitelaw is the owner of The Main Event by Melody and Kids' Green Kitchen. Her father, Norman McGinley, was an early film caterer from his taverns in Los Angeles. She was taught to cook at the knee of her father and grandmothers. She feels blessed to have grown up around such wonderful cooks. She went to Valley College where she learned her passion for cooking from Professor Ida Jaqua, with whom she remains close friends. She then attended UCLA to study nutrition. The Main Event has been in business for over forty years.
Chef Melody is currently a guest chef at Bloomingdales and Macy's Herald Square in New York City and American Express "Share our Strength" events. She is one of the celebrity chefs featured in the California Restaurant Association cookbook, "Chef's Specials of California; Signature Dishes and Recipes from Celebrated Chefs and Restaurants", August 2006.
She has been a guest chef on WOR Radio 710 NYC for the past 19 years where she can be heard on the Morning Show with Joe Bartlett and Donna Hanover. She is the Life Style and Chef/Food Reporter for Saturday Home Show with Jerry Leen. She is a chef at frequent events most often WOR Radio's, "Classic Taste of New York" and "Bridal Show" where she represents Carolina Rice and Rubschlager bread.
On top of all that, Chef Melody still finds time to teach children to cook healthy with her "Kids' Green Kitchen" program and to write food and restaurant stories for newspapers, magazines and cookbooks.
KIDS' GREEN KITCHEN is the brain child of Chef Melody McGinley Whitelaw and Doris Lustusky.
